Our Lesson Horses:
Any lesson program is only as good as the REAL teachers, the horses themselves. At Harmony Meadows we have spent years selecting and training our school horses to be safe and patient, giving children the opportunity to develop confidence and skill without fear or frustration.
Frequent Flyer, aka Delilah, is the best pony to ever look through a bridle. Delilah came to Harmony Meadows in 2003. She has been to every Pony Club rally ever offered, has done hunter shows, trail rides, been to summer camp, and has taught many, many children to ride. She is a patient and gentle teacher and is a favorite with the beginner riders, who can count on her to take good care of them.
Andy is a school favorite. He's a Welsh Cob that loves kids and will do tricks for treats. He is also a wonderful carriage pony. Andy is favorite for bareback practice because of his broad back and steady gaits.
Chase came to us as a mounted games pony, having been on winning teams at both USPC Championships and Mounted Games Across America. Since he's been here we've discovered he is also an amazing jumping pony. He's foxhunted 1st field (and kept up with the big boys!) and has done hunter shows and a Jumper Derby. He loves his work, which is evident in the way he behaves himself in lessons.
Duchess is a Cleveland Bay Sporthorse. At the age of 9 she is a favorite of the older students. She excells in dressage, earning scores in the high 60's, and was recently the High Point Horse at the Haven Hill Cleveland Bay show. Duchess won the Breed division as well as Intro Dressage, and won the "That's My Girl" award for High Point Mare, AND the High Point Horse overall of the 2013 Cleveland Bay Horse Society of North America Performance Awards .
An appendix Quarter Horse, Thumper shows her versatility by going both English and Western. She can jump the moon, and has enjoyed competing in Extreme Cowboy Racing. She's a favorite among students because of her sweet nature and willingness to go forward.
Smoaky is the perfect example of the versatility of the American Quarter Horse. By Doc's Oak, out of an own daughter of Mr. Gunsmoke, his royal pedigree is evident in everything he does, and he has done it all. He's shown through 1st level Dressage, foxhunted, Evented, been a cutting horse, and in 2009 was a National Champion Junior Competitive Trail Horse. At age 29, Smoaky is still sound and still teaching both adults and children to ride.
Rose is another of our Cleveland Bay Sport Horses. Her first career was as a driving horse, and took quickly to her saddle training. Rose loves to hunt and is a joy in the hunt field as she is steady and honest. She loves to jump and is very athletic.
